Championships Progression<\/span><\/h2>\n

The following sets out the Progression Rules for athletes seeking to participate in the NSW Individual Championship pathway (Zone, Region, State), and how progression to each level of the championship is determined.\u00a0 \u00a0Note that 16s and 17s do not “progress” to State, but rather enter the State Championships “directly”.\u00a0 Athletes 13s to 15s have opportunities to progress to State by means other than performances at Region.<\/p>\n

Introduction \/
\nHow to Enter:<\/td>		All events - both Track & Field - are team <\/strong>(\"relay\") events. Candidate teams will be drawn up by STGLAC based on athlete performances, and parents contacted to confirm availability of the relevant athletes to participate.
\n
\nIf you accept your selection into a team, it is most important that you attend and compete<\/strong>, as failure to do so will likely result in your team-mates being unable to compete also. Competitors must wear their full club uniform<\/strong>.
\n
\nThere is a $15 fee per athlete<\/em> to enter this carnival. Please make payment of this amount AFTER <\/strong> we issue details of the FINAL team makeup. This will be later in October. Payment to be made to St George Little Athletics (BSB: 112-879, Acc: 020 079 422). Use Athlete Bib Number(s) as the reference. This process recognises that some Teams initially proposed may not proceed<\/em> due to unavailability of athletes.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Join the State-Relay Group in Team App<\/td>If your young athlete has been selected<\/strong> for a position in a Team at State Relays, and you have accepted<\/strong> that place, please use Team App to request access to the State-Relay \u201cAccess Group\u201d. Instructions to do this are:

Introduction \/ How to Enter:<\/td>The Zone Championships - open to all athletes 7s to 17s<\/strong> - is the first interclub carnival in the pathway: Zone \u2013> Region \u2013> State Track & Field Championships<\/em>. It is a carnival in which the clubs in the \u201cSouthern Metropolitan Zone\u201d (SMZ) come together in competition. The best 8s and above performers at Zone will earn entry to the Region 8 Championships. (Athletes in the 7s do not progress from Zone.) Competitors must compete in their full club uniform<\/strong>.
\n
\nWe encourage as many athletes (7s and above<\/strong>) as possible to nominate for the Zone Championships! To nominate, you must fill out and submit the Nomination form<\/strong> below (one per athlete) by no later than TBA<\/strong>, AND you must pay the Fee and Bond<\/strong> amounts listed below by bank transfer.
\n
\nNominations are subject to review by the club to ensure compliance with carnival rules which, for example, place limits on how many athletes in a given age group may compete in each event. We reserve the right to make a final decision on event selection when necessary to comply with carnival rules.
\n
\nThe first 6 athletes for each event in this Zone as well as the next best 4 places across from our Zone and the Inner City Zone will progress to the Region Championships.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Exemptions from Zone:<\/td>Athletes unable to attend the Zone Championships may apply for an exemption. The circumstances under which an exemption may be accepted are limited and are set out in section 9.1 of this document:

Carnival Information:<\/td>The Schedule <\/strong>(program) is above \u2013 both a full version including heat and lane assignments and a brief version just listing event times. Note the times in the schedule refer to the time of the event and are \u201cNot Before\u201d<\/strong> times. This means the event may run later than the time shown but will not run earlier (unless all athletes are present). The event may however be \u201ccalled\u201d earlier than the times shown, and athletes need to be available to respond when the event is called. The \"Full Program\" contains essential reading for every parent<\/em>. The duties <\/strong>our club is required to fill are (or will be) posted in a SignUp <\/strong>(link is above). Parent duty is a mandatory pre-condition for return of the Helper Bond. The times <\/strong>shown in the SignUp are approximate as actual event times cannot be forecast with precision. Those not volunteering to do a duty forfeit their deposit.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\nParent Helper<\/strong> Duty is mandatory <\/strong>for each Family. [Duties are not difficult and experienced persons will provide directions.] Refund of the Bond is dependent on a parent doing the required duty(s) at those carnivals in the championship program at which their child competes. (Eg.: Zone, or Zone & Region, etc.)

\nNote<\/strong>: Parents at a Duty:
\n- must wear enclosed <\/em>shoes (no thongs, sandals etc)
\n- must not <\/em>be minding a child
\n- must remain <\/em>at the duty till it completes.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Entry Restrictions & Nomination Form<\/td>7s to 11s can compete in up to 4 events and 12s and above can compete in up to 6 events. The club has a quota of up to 5 athletes in each event (per Age Group\/Gender) for 7s to 11s (and no limit for older Ages). We retain the right to select athletes where nominations exceed our quota. These selections will be based on the athlete's Friday night performance.

\nIn choosing what events to compete in, take note of the \"Events by Day<\/strong>\" document (see above) - as that will guide you as to when (ie. the day and the rough ordering) the various events will run.

Introduction \/ How to Enter:<\/td>The Region Championships are the next level of carnival above Zone. For Age Groups 8s - 15s, entry to the Region Carnival is competitive \u2013 and determined by the performances achieved at the Zone Carnival<\/em>. 16s and above may apply for direct entry. We are located in Region 8, which comprises our Zone plus the \u201cInner City Zone\u201d (ICZ). The best performers at Region gain entry to the State Track & Field Championships, at which representatives from all 8 Regions in NSW compete.

Introduction<\/td>Participants in Age Groups 7s to 15s are regarded as partaking in a NSW Championship Event.

\nEach athlete undertakes a fixed set of events which vary by Age Group. 7s to 14s do 6 events, and 15s to 17s do 7 events. Each result is awarded a point score, and points for each athlelte are summed to determine winners in each Age Group. Competitors in the 15s Age Group are vying for selection to the Australian Little Athletics Championships (ALAC).<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
